Could you use some easy tips to show yourself some much needed lovin’?
It’s not as hard as you may think. All it takes is a bit of time and a lot of openness and willingness: to change, to receive, to see and to love.
You’ve clouded your mind with attacks and comparisons for way too long. You’ve bombarded yourself with messages of “not being good enough, strong enough, thin enough, beautiful enough and powerful enough” and you’ve long forgotten that this is not the way you are supposed to live your life. This is not the way you’re supposed to feel.
But you’re here today, reading this article and ready for change, right?
You’re ready for a life lived with more inner peace and outer comfort. You’re ready to embrace yourself with all your vulnerable sides and powerful gifts.
You’re ready to tap into being you.
Let’s dive into some juicy insights into living the life you’re meant to live.
During the next week or so, set yourself up for a challenge, be open for more self-love and expect (and accept) nothing less.
1. Open your eyes.
Look at yourself with open eyes, not with a critical, judging voice. Instead of focusing on all your supposed flaws, look beyond the body you so loathe and instead look into your soul. Who is hiding behind the shame, the spite, the pretense? Who’s there, waiting to be seen, heard and acknowledged?
By focusing on your inner worth, you’ll uncover many talents, skills and interests. You’ll discover sides of yourself you’ve long forgotten about and you’ll begin to slowly feel alive again.
2. Open your heart.
Let yourself be loved by yourself and others. Stop saying you don’t believe in love or self-love. Stop pretending you don’t care about this world and its people. Open your heart and risk being hurt. Open your heart and risk being happy, fulfilled, in love; incredibly so. Open your heart to all the beauty that surrounds you: nature, friends, family, food, colors, music, words, aromas and, most important of all, you. Let this beauty sink in and let it embrace all parts of you. You’ll never forget the impact this simple exercise can have on your life.
3. Open your closets.
Open your closets and throw away everything that clutters your world: clothes, food, jewelry, cleaning material, shoes, useless keepsakes and anything else you don’t really need. Not only will you make room in your home, you will make room in your heart and mind. You will be able to see clearer, breathe easier and feel lighter. The rewards of de-cluttering your home are worth the effort, trust me.
4. Open your journal.
Open your journal and write down how you really feel, what you really think, what you truly want and who you truly are. The more you write, the clearer your true values and beliefs will become. The more you journal, the more inner peace you’ll have. A simple routine of morning pages (just writing whatever is on your mind without stopping for a second) in the morning or at night will transform many areas of your life. Give it a chance and see how much your awareness of yourself and others can change.
Don’t know what to write about? Here are some simple and fun prompts:
10 things I love about myself.
The funniest thing that ever happened to me.
What I truly think of you.
Why I’ll never do _____ again.
The biggest gift I will give myself.
Something I never thought I’d do that turned my life around.
My bucket list aka. Things I will do at one point in my life.
Enjoy the writing process and have some fun with these ideas.
5. Open your arms.
There’s nothing quite like a big old hug fest. So, give yourself a loving hug, give your partner a long embrace, heck, even hug a stranger if you feel like it. This is sure to spread joy, happiness and love.
The more you open yourself in all areas of your life, the more you will actually live. The more you live, the more you’ll love yourself, be proud of yourself and feel at peace with yourself.
Loving yourself can be scary at first, but if you dive in with both feet, are willing and open, you’ll soon find, it’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done.
